Music
Music and performance hold a central place within our federation and form a key part of our commitment to delivering a rich, creative, and well-rounded curriculum. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to discover their musical potential, develop artistic confidence, and experience the joy of performing.
Throughout their time with us, pupils are introduced to a progressive and carefully planned music curriculum. They learn to play a range of instruments, develop the ability to read musical notation, and explore an array of musical genres from different cultures and periods. This broad exposure helps them to build a deep appreciation for music and nurtures both technical skill and creativity.
Confidence in performance is developed from the very start of a child’s journey with us. From Reception onwards, pupils are given regular opportunities to perform on a small stage in our local village hall or church—an environment that is supportive, encouraging, and familiar. As they move through the school, these experiences grow in scale and ambition.
For our older pupils in Years 3 to 6, performance opportunities extend to larger public venues, including the Landmark Theatre. These events allow children to showcase their musical achievements to wider audiences, celebrate their progress, and experience the thrill of performing in a professional setting.
By the time children leave our federation, they do so with a strong musical foundation, increased confidence, and a genuine enjoyment of performance—skills and qualities that enrich their education and remain with them long into the future.
INTENT. IMPLEMENTATION. IMPACT.
