Our Vision
Being the best we can be; committed to making a difference.
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do, and families choose our federation for its small, nurturing nature. Our schools are rural and geographically isolated, and as a result, many of our children begin their learning journey sheltered from the wider world. Our aim is to build their confidence and open windows onto the broader opportunities, experiences and cultures that await them.
Our Christian vision and seven core values—confidence, curiosity, truth, compassion, respect, courage and endurance—underpin all aspects of school life. We want our children to grow into kind, active leaders who value one another and use their unique talents to flourish.
Across the federation, children are encouraged to support one another so that everyone feels included, valued and cherished. We are a family who cares for each other deeply.
At West Berry Federation, children become the best they can be—prepared to make a positive difference—through our:
- nurturing and inclusive teaching approach
- wide range of exciting and enriching experiences
- specialist curriculum delivered by expert teachers
-
a programme of personal development that provides opportunities for every child to grow, shine and realise their potential.
Our Be Kind model keeps the school rules simple:

Being kind to yourself means treating yourself with the same care, patience, and understanding that you would offer to someone you love. It’s a mix of mindset, habits, and self‑awareness. For example, speaking to yourself with compassion, allowing yourself to be human, resting when you are tired, protecting your time and energy, eat well, stay hydrated.
Being kind to others means treating people with warmth, respect, and understanding. It’s shown through your words, actions, and attitude. For example, speaking kindly, showing empathy, treating people fairly, showing gratitude and appreciation, helping when you can. choosing kindness even when it is hard, welcoming and accepting people for who they are, not distracting others when they are learning,
Being kind to the environment means making choices that protect, respect, and care for the natural world and out immediate environment. It’s about understanding that our actions have an impact—and choosing behaviours that help the planet rather than harm it. For example, picking up rubbish off the floor and putting it in a bin, turning off lights when you leave a room, respecting shared spaces – leaving them better than you found them, setting a good example.
